Cameron Donald Green, an Australian cricketer with Western Australia and Perth Scorchers, is a batting all-rounder. He made his international debut with the Australian national cricket team in December 2020. Green has also featured in the Australian side that managed to defeat all odds to win the 2023 ICC Cricket World Cup and the 2023 ICC World Test Championship. He was then bought by his third IPL franchise, the Mumbai Indians, in 2023 and became the second-most-expensive player in the history of the tournament.
Domestic Career
First-Class Cricket (Test Matches)
Cameron began U-13 Junior Cricket League at 10 for the Subiaco-Floreat Cricket Club. He made his debut in First Grade cricket for WACA at 16 years. Grasped by his talents, WACA entered into a rookie contract with him just ahead of the 2016-17 Sheffield Shield season. He participated in 8 matches in the U-19 national league, yielding 20 runs average per inning and capturing 20 wickets.
He immediately came under the limelight in the Marsh Sheffield Shield of the 2019-20 season for his knocks of 87/167 at No. 8, and 121/172 against Queensland at No 9. Those innings did impress his identity as a batsman, whereas earlier, he was thought of as a bowling all-rounder.
Green played his first one-day match in the international format against Pakistan during their tour of Australia at Brisbane Stadium on January 10, 2017. Having bowled 10 overs, he took 3 wickets for 59 runs at an economy of 5.90.
Twenty-20 Cricket
Cameron Green made his T20 debut for Perth Scorchers in the Big Bash League 2018-19 season on 13 January 2019 against Sydney Sixers. He bowled two overs, giving away 21 runs with an economy rate of 10.5.
International Career
Twenty-20 International
Green played his first international on 30th April 2022 against Pakistan by bowling 3 overs for 2 wickets, with 7 dot balls. He conceded 16 runs and had an economy rate of 5.33. He has played 8 matches of T-20 till May 2023, and his highest score is 61 against India, and 5 wickets are taken.
He made his One Day Internationals debut against India in December 2022, bowling 4 overs with an economy rate of 6.75 and scoring 21/27 runs with a strike rate of 77.77. As of March 2023, he played 15 ODIs with a maximum score of 89/92 against New Zealand and a 5-wicket haul against Zimbabwe in August 2022.
Test Matches
Cameron made his Test debut in December 2020 at the Adelaide Oval against India. His highest runs in an individual Test innings are 114 runs out of 170 against India in March 2023. He also took a 5-wicket haul in 10.4 overs against South Africa in December 2022.
Indian Premier League (IPL)
He was bought by the Mumbai Indians in IPL 2023 for AUD 3.15 million, hence becoming the second-most expensive player in an auction after Sam Curran. He scored his first-ever century, 100/47, in the IPL against the Sunrisers Hyderabad at Wankhede Stadium on 21 May 2023.
