Rekha is an extremely renowned Bollywood cinema actress. She was born on 10th October 1954 in Chennai, Tamil Nadu. She is a Libra. Rekha did her schooling from Church Park Convent, Chennai. Rekha has acted in more than 180 movies in her four-decade-long career and received three Filmfare Awards, two Best Actress Awards, and one for the Best Supporting Actress.

Career
Rekha’s first film in Bollywood was the film Sawan Bhadon in 1970 that went on to become a commercial success and cemented her position as a new talent in the film industry. Recognized for her talent, she was encouraged by the music legend R.D. Burman to playback sing. In 1980 she used her voice for two songs in the movie Khoobsurat.

Rekha also became popular with her style of dressing and is nominated for several awards for her dresses. In the year 1982, she bagged the National Film Award for Best Actress for her terrific performance in Umrao Jaan (1981). Furthermore, she was honored with the Padma Shri by the Indian government in 2010 for her significant contributions to Indian cinema. In 2012, Rekha was elected a member of the Standing Committee of the Consumer Affairs and Civil Supplies Department.
