Once upon a time, many people considered Sanath Jayasuriya as one of the best cricketers. He was an ex-player who played for Sri Lanka and even captained it at times. Being a traditional left-arm spinner and top-order batsman, he played for the Sri Lankan cricket team from 1989 to 2011 before finally retiring in 2011. Once named ICC Cricketer of the Year in 1996, he later assisted Sri Lanka in clinching their initial World Cup championship.

Scandals have also blemished his private life, particularly surrounding his attempts at matrimony. Jayasuriya was born in Matara, Sri Lanka. He married an Air Lanka ground hostess, Sumudu Karunanayake, in 1998. The couple divorced in the same year. Jayasuriya is married to Sandra de Silva, an ex-Sri Lankan Airlines flight attendant. His three children are Savindi Jayasuriya, Yalindi Jayasuriya, and Ranuka Jayasuriya. But they separated in early 2012 as their relationship couldn’t bear the test of time. After his divorce, Sanath met film actress Maleeka Sirisena, who is also an air hostess. They got married at a Buddhist shrine on Mount Lavinia.
