Sameer Rizvi: A Rising Star in Indian Cricket
The fast track of Sameer Rizvi, the upcoming bright young cricketer from Meerut, Uttar Pradesh, has taken him into the limelight. Before his IPL 2024 auction, Sameer remained uncapped and was signed for ₹8.40 crore by the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) as the most expensive uncapped player of the season.His path leads him from local cricket to the IPL and, mark my word, it’s full of hard work and talent.

Early Life and Background
Sameer was born in a household that was extremely sportsy on December 6, 2003. His father, Haseen Lohia, is a property dealer, while Rukhsana, his mother, has always been someone who has vested a belief in the boy’s cricketing ambitions.
Cricketing Background: Making his foray into cricket at 11 years with maternal uncle Tanqib Akhtar at the Gandhibagh Academy, the family had serious worries about the whole scenario influencing his school education, but Sameer’s zeal for cricket overcame it all.

Domestic Cricket Career
At 16, Sameer debuted in first-class cricket for Uttar Pradesh in the 2019–20 Ranji Trophy. Though his start was challenging, he used the experience to refine his game. In the 2021–22 Vijay Hazare Trophy, he made his List-A debut, scoring 205 runs in 11 matches at an average of 29.28. His T20 debut followed in October 2022 against Manipur.
During the 2023 Vijay Hazare Trophy, Sameer played a crucial role for Uttar Pradesh, with a key knock of 61 runs against Andhra Pradesh.
Record-Breaking Achievements
UP Under-16 Success – Scored 610 runs in seven matches.
UP T20 League 2023 – He scored the best i.e. 455 runs, including two centuries.
IPL 2024 Auction – CSK bought him for ₹8.40 crore, showing the potential of the player. UP T20 League, 2024 – Led the Kanpur Superstars, scoring 469 runs, including highlights like 89 off 59 balls and an 87-run outing.
