Dr. Taruna Verma, born on 28 April 1973 in the state of Bihar, India, graduated from Zakir Husain College under Delhi University. She pursued her Ph.D. She had planned for the UPSC Civil Services Examination while pursuing college but switched to becoming an academician at a later date and hence chose work for obtaining a doctorate.

Dr. Taruna Verma is Director and Co-founder at Drishti IAS, India’s most prominent UPSC coaching center. She is CEO and Managing Director at Drishti Welfare Foundation, an NGO committed to women empowerment and societal welfare. The organization has been re-engineered under her able guidance into one of the best centers for civil services exams.

Dr. Taruna Verma and Dr. Vikas Divyakirti both met for the first time in the year 1996 when both of them were getting ready to attempt the UPSC Civil Services Examination. Both of them were fascinated with civil services and education, and both of them concluded that they should get married to each other in the year 1997. Both of them established Drishti IAS in the year 1999. Both of them have one son named Satwik Divyakirti.
