Tabu (born Tabassum Fatima Hashmi on November 4, 1971) is one of India’s most versatile actresses. She is from Hyderabad, Telangana, and hails from a family with a long history of cinematic and intellectual success an her grandpa Mohammed Ahsan was a math professor, and she is the niece of renowned artists Shabana Azmi and Baba Azmi.

Tabu was raised in a Muslim home and practices Islam in the “Muslim-Others” group. Her mother tongue is Urdu, and she speaks Hindi, English, and Telugu. She attended St. Ann’s High School in Hyderabad before graduating from St. Xavier’s College in Mumbai with a degree in electronics.

Tabu is 5 feet 8 inches (173 cm) tall and weighs approximately 65 kilograms. She has a wheat-colored skin, dark brown eyes, and black hair. Her body dimensions are supposedly 33-28-36 inches, with a shoe size of US 8.

Tabu began her acting career as a child artist in “Bazaar” (1982) and she made her Telugu cinema debut as a lead in “Coolie No.1” (1991). Her Bollywood debut was in “Mashooq” (1992). Since then, she has given powerful performances in films such as Maachis, Astitva, Chandni Bar, Haider, Andhadhun, and Drishyam. She’s known for expertly mixing mainstream and parallel movies.

Despite her public presence Tabu has never married and remains private about her personal life. Her older sister, Farah Naaz, was also a Bollywood actor.

Tabu eats vegetarian and does not drink or smoke. She is known for her grace and great screen presence and she has won multiple National and Filmfare Awards, establishing her place in Indian film.

Tabu’s estimated net worth in 2025 is around ₹50 crore, owing to her lucrative film career and brand endorsements. She remains an everlasting icon in Indian cinema.
