Kalanithi Maran (born on July 24, 1975) is an Indian media mogul and the group founder-chairman of India’s largest media conglomerate, the Sun Group. Under his leadership, the group has extensively expanded its scope of operations and now owns 37 TV channels and an FM Radio chain, two top newspapers, and magazines.

Early Childhood & Learning
Son of DMK leader and Union Minister Murasoli Maran, he holds a Bachelor’s degree in commerce from Loyola College in Chennai and an MBA from the University of Scranton in America.
Building the Solar Empire
The channel IPOed on the BSE in 2006 and raised $133 million for a 10% stake. Forbes called Maran “Television King of Southern India” as his network grew so quickly. Today, his empire touches over 140 million homes.
Diversity
Apart from the media, Maran had a significant interest in SpiceJet (2010–2015) for a short while and ventured into cricket and film production. His production house was behind recent box office successes such as the Rajinikanth movie Jailer.
