Punjab, with its fertile soil, rich culture, and doer’s attitude, is home to many of India’s most successful business personalities. We see a trend in the state of growth of the wealthy, which in turn we see build businesses into empires within India and also take to the global stage. In 2025, we will see the list of Punjab’s richest, which is to include industrialists, media barons, and global business leaders.

1. Malvinder Singh, also known as Malvinder

Despite his past in business, which had issues he had, Malv, as in Malvinder Singh, the former head of Ranbaxy Laboratories, is still among the richest of Punjabis. While his hands may no longer be in the day-to-day affairs as they once were in the past in real estate, he does large deals, also in the pharmaceutical and health care fields, which place him at the top in terms of net worth.

2. Suneel Mittal

Founder of Bharti Enterprises, Sunil Mittal, is the man that these great business stories out of Punjab go to. From a base in New Delhi, Bharti Airtel is still very much at the top of the Asian telecoms pack. In the 2025 report, it is expected that Mittal’s net worth will have grown to over ₹110,000 crore, which is a result of the company’s expansion into 5G and international markets.

3. Rajender Singh

Rajinder Gupta of Trident Group is a prime example of Punjab’s present industrial growth. In Ludhiana-based Trident, which is a multi-billion-dollar player in textiles and paper manufacturing, we see consistent growth. Also in 2025, Gupta’s fortune has grown via international textile trade and the introduction of eco-friendly products.

4. Ranjit, also known as Baxi

From Great Britain, although born in Punjab, Ranjit Baxi is a key player in the global recycling and paper industry. As the founder of J&H Sales International and former president of the Bureau of International Recycling (BIR), which he did great for, Baxi has made large investments in India, which went into Ludhiana and Jalandhar.

5. Sukhbir

Sukhbir Singh Badal, President of Shiromani Akali Dal and ex Deputy Chief Minister of Punjab, is also a businessman. He is into transport (which includes Orbit Aviation), hospitality, and media (which includes PTC Network). The Badal family’s fortune has grown greatly, which has made him the richest political leader in Punjab.
