Introduction

In the heart of Vadodara in the state of Gujarat, a mother-son team is transforming the sports scene with their introduction and popularisation of pickleball, which has great worldwide appeal. Neha Shah, who is India’s first certified female pickleball coach, and her son Aman Shah, a professional player, have set up MatchPoint Vadodara, which has become India’s preeminent full-scale pickleball facility.

The Genesis of MatchPoint Vadodara

What in the past was a small farm plot in New Alkapuri we see now as a state-of-the-art sports complex. To develop this into a reality, Neha Shah’s idea was to put forward a place which would have sports for people of all ages, a place to take up a new sport, and to get into a community. With Aman’s support, they developed four international quality pickleball courts and a beach volleyball court, which, in turn, we see as the best infrastructure for sports lovers.

Neha Shah: A leader in Indian Pickleball.

Neha Shah’s foray into pickleball was from her extensive background in racquet sports. As a former national-level player in badminton and tennis, she saw the promise of pickleball to put a bridge between these traditional sports and the younger generation. Her certification from the Professional Pickleball Registry (PPR) in the U.S. made her a pioneer in the Indian pickleball community. Neha’s mission is to make pickleball mainstream, to promote health through sports and to position Vadodara as a hub for athletic talent.
