Influence, Style, and Function
Though he also forms a part of the bowling type (right-arm off break), Ruchit’s chief help comes from the bat. To date, there are no such examples of wickets obtained from their crucial home matches.
He has also shown a very aggressive batting approach towards T20s, with the capability of hitting boundary shots (4s and 6s) at a very high frequency.
He has crossed over 50 runs in Saurashtra games (Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, etc.), with runs contributing towards team aggregates.
New Developments & Additional Insights
He also received increased exposure by participating in league matches like the Saurashtra Premier League (SPL) and Saurashtra’s white-ball feeder matches.
Scouts and coaches have lauded him for his hitting power; he has had one of the highest six-counts of the team in several local T20 games.
Having spent most of his career in restricted overs formats, Ruchit has not made a substantial impact yet in red-ball (First-Class) cricket, although he did show promise early on in those. of List A/T20 cricket.
Perspective
Considering his high strike rate in T20s and capability of scoring fast, Ruchit Ahir is a good bet for bigger things in Indian white-ball cricket. He will likely demand higher exposure if he could convert some of that into bigger games, such as Syed Mushtaq Ali-level, Vijay Hazare-level, or even IPL-level exposure. Deciding if he could be promoted higher up the order will be subject to consistency across List A cricket and potentially having very good game/s.
