Sreejaya Chavan is currently running for office as a law school graduate and has won her first assembly election in Bhokar, making her the first person in her family to carry on the tradition of Haryana and Maharashtra with her more progressive views. Sreejaya is the twin daughter of Ashok Chavan, a former chief minister and one of the most well-known politicians in Maharashtra.

Family‍‌‍‍‌‍‌‍‍‌ background
Ashok Chavan is the father of twin girls and is married to Ameeta Ashokrao Chavan. Their daughters are Sreejaya Chavan and Sujaya Chavan.
Sreejaya Chavan — the publicly visible daughter
Sreejaya holds a law degree, which she acquired from the University of Mumbai. For quite a long time, she was not in the spotlight and was only seen assisting her father’s office management and attending the political activities quietly. In or around 2022, she came into the limelight during Bharat Jodo Yatra at Nanded, where she was spotted with the supporters, thus indicating that she might be taking a political role.

Recent political debut and victory
In November 2024, Sreejaya ran for the assembly elections from the Bhokar Assembly constituency in Nanded district. She outdid other competitors in her first election by a huge difference — 133,187 votes against 82,636 votes of her nearest contender were the numbers she achieved. Consequently, she has joined Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) as a legislator of the state and has made her family the third generation to be involved in politics at Bhokar (her grandfather, father, and now herself).

Significance: legacy, generational shift, and fresh start
Bhokar has been the area where the Chavan family and the people have their roots deeply, dating back to the past. Her grandfather (Shankarrao Chavan) was the MLA from the sixties to the seventies; her father, Ashok, has been the representative; and Ameeta, her mother, has also been the MLA from there. The election of Sreejaya is a sign of a generational change – from senior leaders to a relatively young, law-trained female taking up the challenge. Her success is seen as both a continuation of and a new beginning to the changing political dynamics.
Sreejaya’s twin sister, Sujaya, is not involved in the spotlight; no major report has revealed her decision to be engaged in active politics (as of now).

In summary
The daughters of Ashok Chavan are twin sisters, Sreejaya and Sujaya. One of these sisters, Sreejaya Chavan, has come forward publicly: she is a graduate of law, a first-time MLA (as of 2024), and is now the one who integrates the long connection of the Chavan family with Bhokar – the continuation of the legacy of three generations in the regional politics of ‍‌‍‍‌‍‌‍‍‌Maharashtra.
