Power flowed through the Holkar rulers of Indore, where Tukojirao Puar emerged as a key figure. Loyalty shown in conflict and governance earned him Dewas as personal rule. From that moment, under his hand, it grew into a centre of authority.
Odd how that happened – a single royal family dividing into Dewas Senior and Dewas Junior, ruled by cousin branches from one clan. Yet distance didn’t change much; their rule stayed alike, shaped by shared habits and daily rhythms. Though separate, they moved in step, guided by the same old patterns.
