In the previous episode of Perfect Marriage Revenge, Jung-Hye cunningly outmaneuvered Yi-Joo. She strategically manipulated the situation to make Jin-Woong believe that Yi-Joo was responsible for the failed acquisition of The Savings Bank by Hanwool Group. Using this as leverage, Jung-Hye persuaded Jin-Woong to hand over his management rights to her temporarily, which was her ultimate goal from the start.
Spoilers Ahead
Who Is Dong-Soo?
Yi-Joo’s mother, Ji-Won, was dating Jin-Woong when she became pregnant. Woon-Jae, upon discovering the relationship, paid Ji-Won to leave Jin-Woong. Years later, news reached Woon-Jae that Ji-Won and Yi-Joo had perished in a house fire. This tragedy, orchestrated by Jung-Hye, was carried out by Dong-Soo, her secret lover. Jung-Hye’s goal was to eliminate Ji-Won and Yi-Joo to pave her way into Jin-Woong’s life. Believing both were dead, she married Jin-Woong and gave birth to Yoo-Ra.

However, Yi-Joo survived and was later adopted by Jin-Woong. When Jung-Hye learned the truth about Yi-Joo’s survival and identity, she attempted to poison her and framed Yi-Joo’s nanny for it. These repeated betrayals instilled deep trust issues in Yi-Joo, making her wary of consuming food prepared by others.
Why Is Jung-Hye Sabotaging Jin-Woong’s Health?
Jin-Woong’s world turned upside down when Yi-Joo revealed that she was his biological daughter and provided DNA evidence. She also exposed Jung-Hye’s scheme of secretly feeding him psychotropic and appetite-suppressant pills, which worsened his health due to his high blood pressure. These pills caused insomnia, anxiety, and suicidal tendencies, weakening Jin-Woong to the point where he transferred his management rights to Jung-Hye. Despite Yi-Joo’s revelations, Jin-Woong dismissed her claims and had her escorted out. Meanwhile, Do-Kook vowed to bring Jung-Hye down and set out to locate Dong-Soo, the man who had burned down Yi-Joo’s house.

How Did Jung-Hye Gain Control?
After assuming the leadership of the Hanwool Group, Jung-Hye implemented significant pay cuts and layoffs. She also worked to restore Yoo-Ra’s tarnished public image to strengthen her position for the upcoming shareholders’ meeting. Jung-Hye used proxies to secure shareholder votes and focused on persuading Jamie, who owned 5% of the company’s shares. However, Jamie—who turned out to be Yi-Joo’s biological mother, Ji-Won—refused to support Jung-Hye and sided with Yi-Joo instead.

Jamie’s Biggest Secret
Jamie, alias Ji-Won, survived the house fire but was left comatose. Believing Yi-Joo had died, she left the country after recovering. She only learned the truth years later from her dying father. Fearing Yi-Joo’s resentment, Ji-Won stayed close as a friend rather than revealing her identity. When Jung-Hye overheard their emotional exchange, she became increasingly paranoid about their potential alliance.
What Happened at the Shareholder Meeting?
Woon-Jae, determined to transfer his shares to Yi-Joo, escaped his nursing home but was betrayed and kidnapped by Jung-Hye. She attempted to coerce him into transferring his shares to Yoo-Ra, but he resisted. During the shareholder meeting, Jung-Hye’s plan to secure the CEO transition seemed foolproof until Woon-Jae made a dramatic entrance. He defended Yi-Joo and chastised the security, leaving Jung-Hye visibly shaken.
What to Expect Next?
Woon-Jae’s influence over the shareholders could shift the tides in Yi-Joo’s favour. If he exposes Jung-Hye’s ambitions, she is likely to lose support, paving the way for Yi-Joo to become Hanwool Group’s interim CEO. Furthermore, the transfer of Woon-Jae’s shares to Yi-Joo would solidify her position, leaving Jung-Hye’s plans in ruins.
