Indian Football is represented by Indian footballer Anju Tamang, who has shown great talent at the club level and has also played for the national team. Anju was born on December 22, 1995, in Birpara, India, but has Sikkimese roots. Known for her determination and consistent on-field performances, Anju Tamang has earned herself a name in women’s football in India.

Anju Tamang was born to Kanchi Maya and Ram Singh Tamang in a humble family. Anju’s early interest in sports (especially soccer) and her upbringing will ultimately shape who she becomes.

Anju began her education at Alagarah Secondary High School, then transferred to Scottish Universities’ Mission Institution (SUMI) to complete her studies, where she continued to develop as an athlete and work hard for the education she hoped to achieve after graduating from high school. After graduating from high school, Anju then enrolled at the University of North Bengal in Siliguri (her hometown) for higher education, and through her additional education, she grew as both a student and an athlete because she had greater opportunities to compete at a higher level.

Anju Tamang represents the Odisha women’s football team in the Indian Women’s Football Championship, showcasing her skills at the national level. She has also been associated with the Rising Students’ Club in the Indian Women’s League, one of the top competitions for women’s football in India.

After joining Gokulam Kerala FC Women for the season of the Indian Women’s League in 2019, Anju took a major step forward in her club career. She has improved her technique, gained match experience, and developed better game awareness through playing on more competitive teams.

Her performance at the club level has resulted in opportunities for Anju to compete internationally for India. She has emerged as one of the noteworthy football players from her region.
