Born on 18 December 2002 in Kandy, Sri Lanka, Matheesha Pathirana hails from a musically inclined Buddhist family based in Harispathuwa. His father, Anura Pathirana, is a businessman, while his mother once played guitar for a music band. Matheesha studied at Ranabima Royal College and later moved to Trinity College, Kandy, where he played competitive school cricket.

Cricket Career
Nicknamed “Little Slings” and “Baby Malinga,” Matheesha gained attention for his unorthodox sling-style bowling, reminiscent of Lasith Malinga. He made his T20 International debut for Sri Lanka on 27 August 2022 against Afghanistan in Dubai. Although he hasn’t played ODIs or Test matches yet, he has shown promise as a death-over specialist.
Pathirana has played for a variety of regional and franchise teams in the IPL, including the SLC Greys, Nondescripts Cricket Club, Kandy Falcons, and Chennai Super Kings.
